Upper Midwest Severe Threat

Severe weather is likely today in parts of the Upper Midwest from central Iowa and southern Minnesota into southern Wisconsin.

An Enhanced Risk includes Madison and Appleton, WI, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Rochester, MN.

The primary threat with today’s storms will be the potential for damaging wind gusts. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding are of concern as well.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is already in effect for parts of these areas for morning convection. More thunderstorm development is expected later today and into this evening.
