Winter Weather for the Eastern U.S.

An early season winter storm will bring accumulating snow to parts of the eastern U.S. today and tomorrow. Winter Weather Advisories stretch from Louisiana through the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast.

Many locations in the Ohio Valley could pick up 2-3″ of snow by tomorrow night, with some areas seeing even more. Periods of freezing rain during this winter event will likely lead to dangerous road conditions.

Further to the west, in parts of Virginia and North Carolina, accumulating snow and ice look to cause problems tomorrow. Areas in far southwestern Virginia, including Roanoke, are currently in the zone for highest ice accumulations.

Temperatures will be warmer across the Southeast, so rain will be the primary form of precipitation. Heavy rain is likely so Flood Watches are posted from Georgia to the Mid Atlantic.

Winter Storm Watches are out in parts of the Northeast. It’s looking like accumulating snow is likely for parts of the region tomorrow. The watches will likely be upgraded later today as models focus in on timing and amounts.
