Severe Threat Moves East

The threat for severe weather continues in parts of the South today. There is an Enhanced Risk of severe storms from southern Missouri into Louisiana. Some major population centers in this area include Memphis, TN, Springfield, MO, Little Rock, AR, and Shreveport, LA.

Storms are expected to develop later today and continue into this evening. Initially, large hail and isolated tornadoes will be the primary threats. As the storms form into a line and push eastward through the late evening hours, damaging wind gusts will become the greatest threat.

Tornado Outlook

There is a ‘significant’ risk (black hatched area) of a few tornadoes from southwest Missouri into northwest Arkansas. If you live in these areas, please make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts. A high tornado risk also extends into parts of Louisiana. Stay weather aware today.
